Job Description And Duties

Under the clinical supervision of the Chief Psychiatrist, Correctional and Rehabilitative Services (Safety), the administrative supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) II/III, Correctional Facility (CF), and the direction of the Staff Telemental Health (TMH) provider, the Medical Assistant (MA) provides support to the TMH provider in a variety of health care settings. The MA shall be responsible for assisting with telemental health clinic visits including preparing patients and administrative support for clinics as needed, assisting with on-site correspondence and care coordination between TMH and on-site staff, and providing support to the mental health care team for daily operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Possession of a valid certificate issued by one of the six agencies (shown below) to practice as a Medical Assistant, approved by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Medical Board.

Please note:

  • This classification is subject to Section 5, Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) Authorization of the California State Civil Service Pay Scales. The authorized HAM rate for this classification is $5,024
  • Individuals may be eligible to receive a $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend should they meet the eligibility criteria, including but not limited to remaining employed with CCHCS for six months. Additionally, individuals may be eligible to receive a monthly recruitment and retention differential during their first year with CCHCS (totaling $5, 000), should they meet the eligibility criteria.
