Job summary

GoHealth Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to support our urgent care centers. The role involves preparing patients, taking vital signs, recording history, and assisting providers with procedures in a fast-paced environment.

The minimum hourly rate starts at $17/hour and is commensurate with experience. A sign-on bonus up to $2,000 is available for eligible applicants, and monthly incentive pay may apply based on performance metrics.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: One year as Medical Assistant in Hospital, Primary Care, ED, or Urgent Care.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and documentation.
• Schedule appointments and process co-pays.
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history.
• Perform vital signs and preliminary patient assessments.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
• Assist providers with patient care and procedures.
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records.
• Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals.
• Perform opening/closing duties and maintain equipment quality checks.
• Support a safe, organized, and patient-centered clinical environment.
• All other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: One or more years as a Medical Assistant in a Hospital, Primary Care, Emergency Department, or Urgent Care setting.

Certifications (Mandatory)

• One of the following MA certifications at hire or must obtain within 12 months:
  • CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA)
  • CMA – Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA)
  • RMA – Registered Medical Assistant (AMT or AAH)
  • NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT)
  • NRCMA – Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NAH)

Alternative Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, LPN, or LVN (must hold state license at hire).
• EMT – Emergency Medical Technician (must have state certification or national registry).
• Paramedic (must have state certification or national registry).

Required Licenses and Certifications

• CPOE certification required within two weeks of hire if MA certification not obtained.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained at hire through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
