Job Description

The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support in hospital-licensed clinics, including patient interviews, data collection, documentation, exam setup, and support for clinical procedures under supervision. Flexibility to work across multiple specialties is required.

  1. Collect patient history and document in EMR, ensuring results are acquired prior to visits.
  2. Maintain patient flow and assist with forms and administrative tasks.
  3. Perform clinical duties such as vital signs, lab specimen collection, EKGs, medication administration, and documentation.
  4. Facilitate patient check-out, follow-up tests, referrals, and prior authorizations.
  5. Prepare exam rooms, ensure equipment and educational materials are ready, and maintain equipment.
  6. Collect and transport specimens to labs, following hospital policies.
  7. Perform administrative duties like scanning, filing, and phone calls.
  8. Transport stable patients for testing or treatment.
  9. Participate in safety meetings and communicate safety updates.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC.
  • Medical Assistant certification and/or diploma required.
  • CA Certified Phlebotomy Technician License required within one year of employment.
  • 1 year of Medical Assistant experience in a medical setting.
