Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center in Clyde, NC, is hiring a Medical Assistant to join the Western Carolina Blue Mountain Urology team. This full-time, Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm position supports in-office procedures and patient care in a fast-paced clinic.

You will perform patient assessments under supervision, collect specimens, document care, maintain exam areas and schedules, and assist with clerical tasks.

Qualifications

• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Capacity to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; BLS certification within 90 days preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Under provider supervision, assist with patient assessments and treatments.
• Perform basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection; monitor patient condition and communicate changes.
• Document patient care given and maintain examination areas.
• Maintain equipment and medical supplies; stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
• Perform administrative duties: filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
• Complete other tasks as delegated by practice leads or manager.

Join our BMU team that is a fast-paced clinic which performs in-office procedures, our office specializes in advanced Urology care. Our team includes two highly skilled Urology surgeons, and a nurse practitioner who work together to provide exceptional, compassionate care. We are committed to providing personalized and high-quality healthcare in a friendly and welcoming environment.

How you'll contribute

A Medical Assistant who excels in this role:

• Under the supervision of provider, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
• Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communication regarding changes in patient condition.
• Documents patient care given.
• Maintains examination areas.
• Maintains equipment and medical supplies, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
• Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
• Completes other tasks, within scope of position, as delegated by the practice leads, supervisors, managers or Market Director.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), within 90 days of hire.
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, required
• Previous medical office experience, preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred.
