Medical Assistant/ Bilingual Preferred (48659)

Job Overview

As a Medical Assistant, you will prepare patients for examinations, administer immunizations, perform simple medical procedures, and handle administrative and clinical duties. This position reports to the Medical Assistant Supervisor and collaborates closely with the Medical Assistant staff.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare patients for examination: greet patients, obtain chief complaints, and record vital signs.
  2. Assist with laboratory requisitions and ensure lab pick-up.
  3. Administer immunizations and injections under medical provider supervision.
  4. Update and maintain patient charts.
  5. Answer phone calls and callbacks as directed.
  6. Perform simple medical procedures like earwax removal.
  7. Identify unsafe patient environments and discuss with medical providers.
  8. Assist with patient care procedures and tests, including specimen collection and processing.
  9. Conduct routine tests (e.g., blood sugar, UA, pregnancy, strep, blood draws, TB tests).
  10. Clean and sterilize equipment and maintain examination rooms.
  11. Manage inventory and maintain temperature controls for vaccine storage.
  12. Communicate test results to patients.
  13. Prepare medications for immediate use.
  14. Support front desk duties, including answering phones and managing lab scans.
  15. Maintain logs and records for clinical activities.
  16. Request medical records from other providers as needed.
  17. Supervise or train students or temporary staff when required.
  18. Assist the Medical Assistant Supervisor and cover clinical areas as needed.
  19. Engage in quality improvement initiatives aligned with Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH).
  20. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Training
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program; an accredited 2-year Medical Assistant associate degree is highly preferred.
  • Ability to pass MA Certification/Registration within six months.
  • Current CPR certification.
Experience
  • At least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience is preferred.
