Responsibilities

Job description

Beloit Health System is growing our team! We are looking for motivated Medical Assistants to join our Beloit Clinic team in Beloit, WI. This Medical Assistant position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care while working alongside experienced providers in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

  • Hours per week: 36-40 hours per week

  • Department: Various Specialties- Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, and Pulmonology

The Medical Assistant supports licensed healthcare providers in delivering high-quality patient care by performing a wide range of clinical and administrative responsibilities. Key duties include preparing and rooming patients, obtaining medical histories and vital signs, monitoring patient flow, responding to patient phone messages, administering medications, assisting with diagnostic procedures and treatments, maintaining accurate medical records, stocking exam rooms, and providing support during medical emergencies.

In addition, the Medical Assistant assists with scheduling appointments, obtaining prior authorizations and pre-certifications, processing medication refill requests according to established protocols, completing patient-related forms such as FMLA and disability paperwork, ordering clinical supplies, maintaining clean and organized exam rooms, and supporting the overall efficiency of daily clinic operations.

The Medical Assistant Will
  • Prepare and review patient charts and documentation prior to appointments to ensure accurate and efficient patient care.
  • Escort patients to examination rooms, obtain and document vital signs, and update electronic medical records with relevant information, including medical history, chief complaint, current medications, allergies, tobacco use, pain assessment, immunization status, and other required health data.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Verify that all required consents are completed and documented and participate in procedural "time outs" with the Physician or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) as appropriate.
  • May assist Providers during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date patient records within the electronic medical record system.
  • Answer and manage incoming telephone calls, routing concerns appropriately and assisting with patient triage under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional.
  • Support patient and family education by reinforcing instructions and information provided by the Physician or LIP.
  • Schedule patient appointments in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner.
  • Promote patient safety by following established procedures for medication handling, transportation, and administration, while minimizing risks associated with falls, injuries, and disease exposure.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to the basic physical, emotional, and social needs of patients and their families.
  • Adhere to all infection prevention and control protocols.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in department-specific software applications and electronic health record systems.
  • Perform additional clinic and department responsibilities in accordance with established competencies and standards of care.
  • Participate in quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure clinical and office supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Complete assigned duties accurately and within established timeframes to support efficient clinic operations.
Job Requirements
