Job Opportunity: Medical Assistant at Bedford Internal Medicine

UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join Bedford Internal Medicine in Bedford, PA. The hours are Monday through Friday, primarily during daylight, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays required. This role involves both back office and front office duties. Prior Medical Assistant experience is preferred.

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary based on their experience and education, according to the Medical Assistant Career Ladder.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Handling patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  2. Obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referrals, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, managing charts, and other front office tasks.
  3. Preparing patient rooms, setting up instruments, maintaining infection control, managing supplies, and cleaning according to protocols.
  4. Organizing patient flow, assisting patients with transfers and procedures, collecting information, and relaying instructions.
  5. Answering calls and providing patient education.
  6. Performing phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic labs; assisting with procedures and documenting information.
  7. Ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and maintaining confidentiality.
  8. Administering injectable medications and vaccines under supervision, when appropriate.
