Job description

Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia, and Westchester County. We are currently seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support our Bay St. location in Staten Island, NY.

The Medical Assistant supports patients and the clinical team at the designated health center, assisting with medical care under the direction of nursing and medical staff, in line with the Center's policies. This role involves performing duties according to systems and specific standards, along with additional tasks as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Complete the rooming process, take vital signs, vision, and hearing tests, record patient data in eCW (laboratory results, pain level, PEAS, PhQ, Smoke status, etc.), and document the reason for visit.
  • Perform in-house labs, collect specimens for external labs (e.g., Pap, cultures), and perform quality control following organizational protocols.
  • Maintain clinical area stock and organization, ensure all materials are current, and dispose of outdated supplies.
  • Clean and sterilize equipment, logging each service performed.
  • Perform basic clerical duties, answer phones professionally, communicate concerns to nurses, and handle inquiries.
  • Maintain all relevant logs accurately.
Minimum Education Requirements:

High School diploma/GED with Medical Assistant Training Certificate

Preferred Education:

Associate's degree with Medical Assistant Training Certificate

Experience:

0-1 year related work experience

Preferred Skills & Knowledge:

Bilingual Spanish is preferred

Pay: $20.50 - $22.00 per hour
