Job summary

Corewell Health is offering a $3,000 sign-on bonus for this opportunity to external applicants or current CHW MA Apprentice Students. The Bariatrics team supports multiple locations and follows patients for life with annual visits, within a comprehensive outpatient system.

We seek a Medical Assistant to join our clinical support staff, assisting with vital signs, chart prep, in-basket messages, medication refills, and prior authorizations, in a fast-paced clinic environment in Grand Rapids, MI.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Competency-based medical assistant training program completed required.
• 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting preferred.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
• One of CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/NRCMA certifications required within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• As a Medical Assistant, you will be a key member of the clinical support team.

About the Unit

Bariatricshas a comprehensive team that includes five skilled surgeons, three bariatricians, twelve advanced practice providers (APPs), two psychologists, and four dietitians. Our team supports ten practice locations, providing both medical and surgical weight loss options. We take immense pride in the strong relationships we build with our patients, their families, and our colleagues, fostering a supportive and compassionate environment. We follow our surgical patients for life, seeing them on an annual basis.

Our support staff is composed of registered nurses (RNs), medical assistants/ACTs, and patient service representatives (PSRs). Each member of the team plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our practices and the delivery of high-quality care.

Medical Assistants/ACTsassist with patient care, including taking vital signs, chart preparation, and managing in-basket messages, medication refills and prior authorizations. Candidates for this position should be adaptable, detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and possess strong organizational and communication skills. They play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the office and providing high-quality patient care

Hours of work : Monday to Friday and late seminar rotation: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; when seminar occurs 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
