Position Summary
This position supports AAAI Providers and PhysicianAssistants in the delivery of patient care, helping to ensure timely,patient-centered care. They work closely with other healthcare professionals tocommunicate with patients and maintain patient confidentiality.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- 1.Prepare exam rooms for patient visits, anticipatingpatient and provider needs by assuring the room is clean and equipped with thenecessary equipment and supplies.
- 2.Review patient charts to identify any special needsor missing information.
- 3.Obtain and record patient medical histories, vitals,test results, and other information for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- 4.Confirm medications and key elements of medicalhistory, document any changes.
- 5.Assist the Provider with the exam as directed.
- 6.Document services provided for billing purposes.
- 7.Do diagnostic procedures as assigned.
- 8.Document care delivered, and treatment planprescribed.
- 9.Provide patient education as directed.
- 10.Preparing and administering medications forpatients as directed by providers.
- 11.Perform phone triage duties including documentingcalls and messages.
- 12.Give injections as prescribed, includingimmunotherapy per protocol.
- 13.Review diagnostic tests by outside providers;document in the medical record and alert provider to positive results; notify patients of diagnosticresults per protocol.
- 14.Assist in obtaining prior authorizations formedications and services ordered by the provider.
- 15.Maintain ability to meet all performancerequirements regarding tasks and department goals.
- 16.Ensure compliance with all health care regulations,including HIPAA and OSHA.
- 17.Assist with training new staff.
- 18.Attend staff meetings as requested.
- 19.Cross train in the allergy lab to be able to assistin both back office and allergy lab.
- 20.Will be required to travel to other officelocations when coverage is needed.
- 21.Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- 1.Possession of the clinical expertise and knowledgenecessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
- 2.Basic understanding of patient care, medicalterminology, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistantpractice scope.
- 3.Should demonstrate excellent organizationalabilities.
- 4.Experience with allergy and asthma diagnosticprocedures, ordered treatment, shots and related clinical terminology anddocumentation.
- 5.Must be a self-starter with a positive,service-oriented attitude, and the ability to work effectively with all levelsof staff and management.
- 6.Ability to work in a team environment assistingco-workers.
- 7.Deliver compassionate support, attention, andassistance to patients and families.
Education
- Required:Certification/Diploma from an accredited medical assistantprogram.
- Highschool diploma or equivalent.
Experience
- Preferablytwo plus years of Medical Assistant Experience.
Other Requirements
- Beable to complete AAAI administered clinical study guides and pass exams onclinical issues involved in Allergy and Asthma care as required byAAAI.
Working Conditions
OSHA Category 1 exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissue.Be able to be on your feet the majority of the time, occasionally sitting andoperating general office equipment. Well-lit work area in a medical office.
