The Medical Assistant (MA) provides patient care at their skill level, ensuring standards meet or exceed those of a competent Medical Assistant. Duties are performed under supervision of a provider or physician, within their scope of practice.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant, including operating diagnostic equipment, wound care, specimen collection, administering non-intravenous medications, performing EKGs, and sterilizing equipment.
  • Room patients, prepare them for examinations, and accurately document care in medical records.
  • Coordinate patient care as directed, respecting confidentiality and providing courteous service.
  • Maintain exam rooms, follow infection control protocols, and support clinical team activities.
  • Support and follow Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current, recognized Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain it within 180 days
  • Current BLS certification or obtain within 30 days
  • Basic computer literacy, intermediate Excel skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to remain calm in emergencies
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Proof of immunity to certain diseases or vaccination documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Over 1 year of Medical Assistant experience
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
  • Bilingual abilities

The hourly pay ranges from $16.00 to $28.85, based on full-time employment, location, experience, and certifications.
