Position Overview

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides patient care at the appropriate skill level, supporting physicians and nursing staff within their scope of practice under supervision. Responsibilities include organizing the clinical environment, assisting in patient care, and ensuring policy compliance, including infection control and confidentiality.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Perform duties within the scope of practice, operate diagnostic equipment, perform wound care, administer non-intravenous medications, collect specimens, perform EKGs, and maintain equipment.
  2. Room patients and prepare them for examinations.
  3. Accurately document patient care in medical records.
  4. Coordinate patient care as directed by physicians.
  5. Maintain patient confidentiality and provide courteous service.
  6. Manage exam and treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and practice infection control.
  7. Screen patients via phone and in person, limited to information gathering.
  8. Support and follow Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO).
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days
  • BLS certification at hire or within 30 days
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to react calmly in emergencies
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Proof of immunity to certain diseases or vaccination documentation

Preferred:

  • Over 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
  • Bilingual in Spanish
Physical & Mental Requirements
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull over 35 lbs with assistance
  • Stand for extended periods
  • Operate equipment with fine motor skills
  • Receive and understand instructions
  • Logical reasoning for problem-solving
  • Exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids
  • Discriminate shades of color for testing
Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage ranges from $16.00 to $28.85, based on factors such as experience, education, and certifications. Benefits include comprehensive health plans, incentive programs, stock purchase options, and 401k contributions.
