Job summary

Imperial Beach Community Clinic seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team in Imperial Beach, CA. This full-time, day shift role supports back-office procedures under the LVN-Charge and requires reliable transportation with willingness to work across two clinic sites.

Responsibilities include vital signs, histories, patient advocacy, chart review, and assisting with injections and basic lab tasks. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred to serve our diverse patient base.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish and English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under established protocols, including vital signs and taking medical histories.
• Advocates for patients and assists with patient case management.
• Ensures exam rooms are stocked, clean, and prepared for visits.
• Initiates patient flow and manages flow concerns to minimize wait times.
• Performs general problem solving and patient follow‑up as needed.
• Engages in community outreach activities as assigned.
• Participates as a member of the mobile health team as needed.
• Performs tasks such as HCT, UA, PPD, venipuncture, microscopy, immunizations, and therapeutic injections.
• Reviews medical charts as assigned by the Nurse.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Clinic Coordinator, performs a variety of tasks related to back-office procedures.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provides direct patient care under established Protocols, Procedures, and Standards by functioning in the following areas:
   • a. Vital signs
   • b. Taking medical histories
   • c. Patient advocacy
   • d. Patient case management
2. Ensures exam rooms are stocked, clean and prepared.
3. Initiates patient flow manages patient flow concerns.
4. General problem solving.
5. Patient follow‑up.
6. Community outreach as assigned.
7. Functions as member of mobile health team as assigned.
8. Other tasks commensurate with level of skill development, HCT, UA, PPD, venipuncture, microscopy, health education, immunizations and therapeutic injections.
9. Responsible for medical chart review as assigned by the Nurse.

Must have reliable transportation. This position will work on both clinic sites. Certified Medical Assistant
