Job summary

Northwest Eye Surgeons - Northgate is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Seattle Northgate team. This role supports ambulatory surgery center patients with compassionate care, assists with pre- and post-operative tasks, and collaborates with doctors and staff to maintain smooth clinic operations.

Ideal candidates are patient-focused, have CPR certification, and hold Surgical Technician Registration, Medical Assistant Certification, or CNA, with about one year of medical experience

Qualifications

  • Current CPR is mandatory.
  • Surgical Technician Registration, Medical Assistant Certification, or Certified Nursing Assistant is required.
  • 1 year of medical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized nursing care to ambulatory surgery center patients per orders and standards.
  • Admit and prepare patients for surgery, record vital signs, and escalate findings as needed.
  • Document in the patient record and EHR.
  • Maintain medical records in compliance with regulations.
  • Practice asepsis, infection control, and sterilization.
  • Abide by HIPAA, OSHA/WISHA, confidentiality, and insurance requirements.
  • Position patients safely and anticipate team needs.
  • Communicate ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Work independently or as part of a fast-paced team.

Requirements
  • Provides individualized and specialized nursing care to patients in the ambulatory surgery center in accordance with physicians’ orders, recognized nursing standards, and legal aspects of current nursing practices within the state and the center’s policies and procedures.
  • Admit and prepare the patient for surgery, including taking and recording vital signs; recognize when to escal findings to the Nurse.
  • Document in the patient record and EHR
  • Comply with procedures, regulations, and rules in maintaining medical records.
  • Train and practice knowledge of asepsis, infection control, and sterilization
  • Abide by all company and compliance policies and procedures, including HIPAA, OSHA/WISHA, Patient confidentiality, and insurance requirements.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique as it applies to the operating room preferred
  • Safe positioning of patients when required.
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of the team before such needs arise.
  • Demonstrate excellence in communication skills- demonstrated ability to convey ideas and information verbally and in writing.
  • Exhibit initiative and the ability to work independently when necessary and perform as part of a larger team in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:
  • Current CPR is mandatory
  • Surgical Technician Registration, Medical Assistant Certification, or Certified Nursing Assistant is required
  • 1 year of medical experience preferred
