Salary: $23.84 - $28.61 hourly
Must be comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment and with underserved communities. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Job Summary
This position assists medical providers in delivering care to clinic patients under the supervision of the doctor or nurse.
Essential Responsibilities
- Draw blood, give injections, administer skin tests, and obtain laboratory specimens.
- Prepare patients for doctor examinations.
- Set up necessary instruments.
- Take medical history and check vital signs.
- Schedule appointments.
- Update and maintain patient records.
- Monitor and maintain medical supply inventory.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and equipment.
- Knowledge of Child Health and Disability Prevention Program (CHDP) guidelines, immunization schedules, and AAP periodicity table.
- High level of professionalism, patient service, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and eClinicalWorks (eCW) or similar.
- Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and multi‑task while maintaining quality standards.
- Ability to build productive working relationships.
- Ability to work with culturally and racially diverse populations and in lower socio‑economic conditions.
- Ability to represent the organization pleasantly and effectively.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent OR combination of education and related work experience. Associate’s degree or equivalent OR combination of education and related work experience preferred.
- 0 to 1 year of related experience.
Certifications, Licensure, and Language
- Medical Assistant Certificate.
- Proof of required vaccinations by federal, state, and local funding sources.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- BLS/CPR certified.
- Valid driver’s license and auto‑liability insurance (mileage reimbursement per IRS rate available).
Physical Requirements
- Walking, talking, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 10 pounds; hand and wrist dexterity to utilize a computer.
