Position Summary: The Medical Assistant Apprentice is responsible for providing patient care duties according to the Medical Assistant Program Curriculum. Tasks include patient interviews, specimen collection, assisting providers with exams and procedures, patient interaction, and education. The apprentice practices under supervision and supports organizational goals through quality service and teamwork.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

License/Certification: BLS/HCP certification within six months of hire or transfer.

Experience: None required; experience in medical field preferred.

Miscellaneous: Travel required to different locations for classes and field experience.

Performance Expectations

Demonstrate competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

Work Environment

Potential exposure to hazards, bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Requires reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Long periods of telephone work may be required.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to department leadership as assigned.
