Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a Medical Assistant Apprentice to join our MA Training Program in Minneapolis, MN. The role supports coursework while performing limited clinical tasks under supervision.

Candidates must be 18+, enrolled in an accredited MA program, and able to meet program competencies. The program includes hands-on learning with a preceptor and potential growth as you progress through coursework.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description.
• Must be enrolled in an Allina approved accredited Medical Assistant program.

Responsibilities

• Perform limited skills & duties while attending coursework at an Allina approved MA program.
• Role may include cleaning and stocking rooms, copying, faxing, preparing patient forms, transcribing patient responses to questionnaires.
• Roles & duties will expand as MA apprentice moves through the MA coursework and demonstrates competency, aligned with curriculum progression and MA job description.
• Assigned Allina Preceptor/Trainer will validate MA Apprentice to ensure competency to perform task independently.
• Other duties as assigned.

Key Position Details

• 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period)
• 8-hour day shifts
• No weekends

Expectations

• MA Apprenticeship requires the employee to work part-time at an Allina clinic based on program time commitment AND be accepted and in good standing with the Medical Assistant program at an approved MA program.
• MA Apprentice will complete MA course curriculum.
• MA Apprentice will complete Allina LMS course to coincide with completed curriculum.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED

Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below

Licenses/Certifications

• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross
• Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)

Physical Demands

• Medium Work*:
• Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Flat Rate: $21.00 per hour

*This position is paid on a standard non-negotiable hourly rate. Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
