Base pay range

$23.00/hr - $31.00/hr

Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Medical Assistant with our Ambulatory Float Pool in Hyde Park. You will partner with the clinical team to provide high-quality care across various outpatient clinics supporting specialties like Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology, Primary Care, Geriatrics, and Pediatrics.

The Medical Assistant works under supervision of RNs, APNs, or Physicians, assisting with clinical and administrative tasks such as administering vaccines, conducting EKGs, recording vital signs, maintaining patient records, and collaborating with the healthcare team.

Essential Job Functions
  • Practice the Pride Values and Patient-Centered Care Principles of UChicago Medicine.
  • Perform duties involving direct patient care as assigned, within scope and policies.
  • Implement and document patient and family education as delegated.
  • Obtain and record vital signs.
  • Perform tests like pregnancy tests, urinalysis, hemocults, etc.
  • Document all aspects of patient care per hospital policies.
  • Perform phlebotomy services and assist with specimen collection, labeling, and logging.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
  • Experience in a community health setting.
  • Completion of a recognized certified/registered medical assistant program (CMA credential).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Knowledge of PC applications, Excel, Word, OASIS, and EPIC.
  • Experience with computerized appointment scheduling.
  • Ability to handle stress in fast-paced environments.
  • Discretion and tact in public interactions.
  • Physical ability to perform stocking, lifting, and transporting supplies.
Position Details
  • Job Type/FTE: Full Time (1.0 FTE)
  • Shift: Days, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
  • Unit/Department: Ambulatory Float Pool
  • CBA Code: Non-Union

This role generally involves 40 hours/week, scheduled Monday to Friday, primarily on the Hyde Park campus with some offsite locations.
