Job summary

Women’s Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to support OB/GYN and primary care teams in Clearwater, FL. The role involves preparing patients, assisting providers during examinations and procedures, recording medical histories, and maintaining sterile, compliant clinical environments.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, with MA certification preferred or the ability to obtain within 120 days. CPR/BLS certification is preferred or obtainable within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred for Florida or ability to obtain certification within 120 days.
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or available within 30 days of employment thru training.
• Experience in OB/GYN or primary care is a plus.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections when applicable.
• Proficient in data entry in electronic medical records (EMR).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant

• Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during treatment/procedures, examinations, and testing of patients.
• Prepare, restock, and sterilize examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area and all other patient care areas per established policies and procedures.
• Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint.
• Measure, record, and document vital signs.
• Where applicable, perform phlebotomy, injections and other specimen collection per established policies and procedures as directed by the provider.
• Educate patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider.
• Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
• Sterilize medical instruments per established standards and procedures.
• Relay messages from patients and front office staff to providers.
• Represent the office in a professional manner. Treat all customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner.
• Participate in team activities and professional development activities.
• Attend required meetings.
• Demonstrate and embody the Women’s Care mission and core values.
• Compliance with all HIPAA rules, regulations, and guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• (FL Only) Certified Medical Assistant preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within the first 120 days of employment.
• To be eligible for employment and to obtain an MA certification, you must be a graduate of a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR served in the Armed Forces as a Medical Technician with honorable discharge.
• Current CPR and/or BLS certification preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within 30 days of employment via Women’s Care training.
• Experience working in OBGYN or Primary Care a plus.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections, if applicable.
• Ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions.
• Must possess the ability to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of internal personnel, providers, personnel of outside organizations, and patients and their family members, both written and verbally.
• Must possess good organizational skills, handle multiple tasks concurrently, and be able to work effectively with all levels of aforementioned groups.
• Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical records application, preferably eCW.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Must be dependable, reliable, and punctual.
