Job summary

Women’s Care is seeking a Medical Assistant in Saint Petersburg, FL to provide professional clinical support during patient visits. You will prepare patients, assist providers, record histories, perform phlebotomy and injections when applicable, and ensure safe, efficient care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or MA certification (FL), CPR/BLS, and experience in OB/GYN or primary care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• FL only Certified Medical Assistant preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within the first 120 days of employment.
• Graduate of a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR served in the Armed Forces as a Medical Technician with honorable discharge.
• Current CPR and/or BLS certification preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within 30 days of employment via Women’s Care training.
• Experience in OBGYN or Primary Care a plus.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections, if applicable.
• Ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions.
• Must possess the ability to interact and communicate professionally with all levels of staff and patients.
• Must possess good organizational skills and multitask effectively.
• Ability to use computer and enter data in EMR (preferably eCW).
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, restock, and sterilize examination rooms and labs per policies.
• Record medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint.
• Measure and document vital signs.
• Perform phlebotomy/injections when directed.

• Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment; comply with HIPAA.
• Sterilize medical instruments per standards.
• Relay messages between patients, front office, and providers.
• Attend required meetings and participate in team activities.

The Medical Assistant provides professional clinical care for patients following established standards and practices. Prepares patients during office visits and assists patients and family members before, during and after a doctor’s visit.

• Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during treatment/procedures, examinations, and testing of patients.
• Prepare, restock, and sterilize examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area and all other patient care areas per established policies and procedures.
• Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint.
• Measure, record, and document vital signs.
• Where applicable, perform phlebotomy, injections and other specimen collection per established policies and procedures as directed by the provider.
• Educate patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider.
• Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
• Sterilize medical instruments per established standards and procedures.
• Relay messages from patients and front office staff to providers.
• Represent the office in a professional manner. Treat all customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner.
• Participate in team activities and professional development activities.
• Attend required meetings.
• Demonstrate and embody the Women’s Care mission and core values.
• Compliance with all HIPAA rules, regulations, and guidelines.

Qualifications
