Job summary

Meridian Health Services in Fort Wayne is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patients of all ages at our Primary Care office. You will guide patients through visits, take vitals, prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist providers with exams and documentation.

This role requires graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program, a high school diploma or equivalent, and certification as a Medical Assistant preferred (CMA/NCMA/CCMA/RMA).

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
• High school diploma or equivalency required; Associates degree preferred
• Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred (CMA, NCMA, CCMA, or RMA)
• 6–12 months of clinical experience preferred
• A valid driver's license with driving record meeting Meridian's driving policy, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance

Responsibilities

• Guide patients through their visit and prepare them for provider assessments
• Take vitals, prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain supplies
• Support providers with exams, minor procedures, and patient documentation
• Perform phone triage, manage labs and records, and follow infection-control protocols
• Conduct screenings (PHQ-9, Edinburgh, GAD-7) and assist with telehealth
• Prepare medications, maintain certifications, and protect patient confidentiality
• Complete daily/weekly tasks, attend meetings, and uphold OSHA/CLIA standards
