Job summary

US Heart and Vascular seeks a part-time Medical Assistant at Willowbrook Cardiovascular Associates in Houston, TX. The role supports clinicians with exams, takes vital signs, and handles EMR medication entries and telephonic/patient communications.

Responsibilities include EKGs, Holter monitoring, stress testing, and scheduling. Requires MA cert, BCLS, and 1 year experience; CPT duties may apply. Monday–Friday schedule with benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification is required.
• 1 year of Medical Assistant experience is required.
• Current BCLS certification is required.
• Experience administering EKGs is required.

Responsibilities

• Take vital signs and document in EMR.
• Input and update patient medications in EMR.
• Perform EKGs and printouts; ensure accuracy.
• Assist physicians with exams as needed.
• Hook up Holter/Event/Loop monitors per protocol.
• Assist with stress tests and interpret where directed.
• Handle calls for prescriptions; manage chart notes.
• Monitor pharmacy samples and remove expired stock.
• Manage patient portal messages and calls.
• Maintain CPR and MA certifications; may assist scheduling.

Job description

US Heart and Vascular needs a Part-time Medical Assistant to join our Willowbrook Cardiovascular Associates in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities

• Takes vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc.)
• Verifies and inputs patient medications into EMR. Making changes and additions as needed to the medication list.
• Responsible for EKG, rhythm strip, and signal average EKG hook-ups and printouts. (Proficiency Required)
• Assist physicians with patient exams as needed.
• Responsible for Holter monitor hook-ups and removals, event recorders and Loop recorders. (Proficiency Required)
• Ability to perform stress tests as needed and to assist in test interpretation.
• Takes pharmacy phone calls, reviews charts, and calls in prescription refills.
• Monitors pharmacy samples, removing from stock as expired.
• Receives and returns phone calls from patients and other external sources. Receives and returns portal messages in the EMR.
• Maintains current CPR and Medical Assistant certification.
• May also be responsible for insurance precertification, prior authorization, procedure/surgery scheduling and coordinating transfers and admissions.
• Performs other duties as required.
• May be required to move between locations as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or Texas accredited GED is required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification is required.
• 1 year of Medical Assistant experience is required.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Current experience in administration of EKGs is required.
