Connecticut GI/CGA, a division of GI Alliance, is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to join the Hartford Care Center. The patient care team works with physicians and advanced practitioners to provide comprehensive, compassionate care in a fast-paced gastroenterology setting.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or MA diploma, at least one year of MA experience, strong communication skills, and EMR experience (Epic preferred). Competitive pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an Accredited MA Program (preferred).
• At least one full year of Medical Assistant experience.
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Broad knowledge of medical terminology (1+ year of healthcare experience).
• EMR experience is ideal; Epic experience is a plus.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain vital signs (BP, height, weight) and document in Epic EMR.
• Update patient medical history and medication list accurately.
• Document patient phone calls and inform patients of test results as directed by the provider.
• Assist with prior authorization process as needed.
• Ask appropriate triage questions and document in Epic.

What You Will Do For Us

• Providing Remarkable Patient Experience: you will be responsible for rooming patients, obtaining vital signs (blood pressure, height, and weight) and documenting accurately utilizing Epic EMR.
• Attention to Detail:Updating patient's medical history including updated medication list.
• Team Player:Appropriately documents all patient phone calls and under the direction and guidance of the provider, informs patients of test results.
• Versatility:Familiarity with prior authorization process.
• Expertise:Asking appropriate triage questions when speaking with patients and accurately recording in Epic.

What We Are Looking For In You

• Graduated from an Accredited MA Program (preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $18.00 - $34.00 per hour, depending on experience. Offers are multi-factorial.

Work Location

• Primary location: Hartford, 1000 Asylum Avenue, Suite 3212
• Will be required to travel to our Satellite offices in Bloomfield, East Granby, and Manchester as needed.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a college course in medical assisting.

Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office. Experience working in a Gastroenterology practice is preferred.

Requirements For Level I Status

• Entry level (1-4 years experience) and/or meet the basic requirements of the job with the need for additional supervision.
• Excess of 4 years experience if meeting only the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision.
