Qualifications

• Ability to administer oral, IM, and subcutaneous medications.
• Venipuncture following OSHA PPE safety.
• Obtain accurate vital signs and refills.
• Assist in medical emergencies and office procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform an EKG.
• Assist in orientation of new staff.
• Order supplies and maintain inventory.
• Follow policies & procedures and ensure smooth workflow.
• Organize tasks for patient flow.
• Schedule referrals to specialists.
• Flexible back and front-office support.

Description

The Department of Neurology is looking to hire a Medical Assistant to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced ambulatory clinic setting. In this role, you will support physicians and the clinical care team by assisting with direct patient care, recognizing and reporting normal and abnormal signs and symptoms, and providing support during urgent and life-threatening emergencies. You will also perform a variety of clinical, administrative, and clerical duties, including preparing patients for visits, documenting information, coordinating patient flow, and ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the clinic. Hourly range: $31.24-$41.22

Qualifications

Required:

• 1. A
  medical assistant diploma or certificate as follows
• Documentation of completing of a
  medical assistant program from a medical assistant school that is
  accredited by ASSCS, ACCET,CAAHEP
  or ABHES or
• Documentation
  of national certification for medical assistant issued by CMA, NCCT or AMT
  or
• Documentation of completing a
  medical assistant programand demonstrated completion of
  no less than 10 clock hours of training in administering injections and
  performing skin tests; 10 hours of training in venipuncture and skin
  puncture for the purpose of withdrawing blood; at least 10 of each
  intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections and 10 skin tests,
  and/or at least 10 venipuncture and 10 skin punctures; 10 hours of
  training in administering medical by inhalation.
• 2. Knowledge
  of normal and abnormal symptomology and life threatening medical problems.
• 3. Ability
  to administer CPR.
• 4. BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• 5. Ability
  to skillfully administer oral, IM and subcutaneous medications.
• 6. Ability
  to perform venipuncture with skill, adhering to all OSHA PPE safety
  requirements.
• 7. Ability
  to obtain accurate vital signs and drug refills.
• 8. Ability
  to assist in medical emergencies and office procedures.
• 9. Ability
  to use computerized patient care systems.
• 10. Knowledge
  of medical terminology.
• 11. Interpersonal skills

• 22. Knowledge of all
  safety requirements when handling Biohazardous specimens or contaminated
  instruments.
• 23. Knowledge of MSDS and
  emergency treatments.
• 24. Ability to work
  overtime in cases of emergency.
• 25. Ability to be
  punctual and maintain a satisfactory attendance record.
• 26. Skill in maintaining
  a harmonious work atmosphere, practicing excellent customer service.
