The University of Miami UHealth Department of Executive Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Medical Assistant (MA) to work at UHealth Palm Beach. The incumbent shall perform multi-skilled tasks to assist the medical providers, including patient healthcare management and clinical procedures. The MA will prepare patients before and after examinations, treatments, or procedures under the supervision of a physician. The physician may delegate tasks to the Nurse Manager/Nurse Supervisor and/or Charge Nurse.

Core Job Functions
  1. Obtain vital signs and patient information for medical records.
  2. Administer injections or treatments, perform routine laboratory tests, and assist with patient care activities.
  3. Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
  4. Assist with physical examinations by preparing supplies and handing instruments to the doctor.
  5. Provide patients with instructions and information regarding procedures.
  6. Clean and sterilize instruments, schedule tests, and complete laboratory forms.
  7. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  8. Order, stock, and inventory supplies; escort and transport patients within the hospital.
  9. Follow university and departmental policies and safeguard assets.
Department Specific Functions
  • Willingness to travel/float between sites.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Medical Assistant Certification or CNA license.
  • Preferred: One year of relevant medical assistant or urgent care experience.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is a plus.

Reporting Structure
  • Reports to the Nurse Manager/Nurse Supervisor and the Physician in charge.
Performance Evaluation
  • Evaluations will be conducted jointly by the Nurse Manager/Nurse Supervisor and the physician.
Core Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduate from an accredited radiology or medical assistant program.
Certification and Licensing
  • Active BLS provider card from the American Heart Association.
  • Phlebotomy certification.
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and work under pressure.
  • Discretion with confidential information.
  • Availability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
  • Commitment to university values.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in performing within the scope of a Florida Medical Assistant.
  • Knowledge of treatments, sterile techniques, infection control, and patient age-specific care.
  • Ability to follow instructions and establish effective relationships with patients and staff.
