Job summary

The Center for Human Development (CHD) is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Park Street Clinic in West Springfield, MA. You will provide direct clinical and administrative support to clinicians, performing phlebotomy, EKGs, spirometry, and noninvasive tests in line with clinic protocols.

Responsibilities include patient rooming, vital signs, documentation in the EHR, scheduling, referrals, and care coordination.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Certification or registration (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent).
• Demonstrated experience performing phlebotomy, EKGs, and spirometry.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws.
• Conduct 12-lead EKGs with proper electrode placement.
• Administer and document spirometry testing.
• Maintain infection control standards and respond to emergencies.
• Document clinical information in the EHR.
• Coordinate referrals and prior authorizations.
• Assist providers during exams and minor procedures.
• Support patient flow through chart preparation and scheduling.

Outpatient Clinic

Description

CHD is looking for a Medical Assistant (MA) to work at our Park Street Clinic. The MA will provide direct Clinical and Administrative support to medical providers to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care. This role requires demonstrated experience performing phlebotomy, EKGs, spirometry, and other noninvasive diagnostic and clinical procedures in accordance with established clinical protocols. The MA plays a critical role in patient flow, clinical documentation, and supporting providers during patient visits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities – Clinical

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws; properly label, process, and prepare specimens for transport or analysis.
• Conduct 12-lead EKGs, ensure proper electrode placement, and document results for provider review.
• Administer and document spirometry testing following established clinical guidelines.
• Perform additional noninvasive procedures including vital signs, rooming patients, point-of-care testing, pulse oximetry, and screenings.
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during exams and minor procedures.
• Administer injections and immunizations as permitted by scope of practice.
• Maintain infection control standards and respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
• Administrative & Operational Responsibilities
• Accurately document clinical information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Process and manage prior authorizations and medical refill requests efficiently.
• Submit patient referrals and coordinate care tracking into appropriate systems.
• Support efficient patient flow through chart preparation and scheduling coordination.
• Communicate effectively with patients and the care team.
• Maintain medical equipment and inventory of supplies.

Qualifications required:

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Certification or registration (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent).
• Demonstrated experience performing phlebotomy, EKGs, and spirometry.

Preferred:

• One or more years of experience in an outpatient or primary care setting.
• Experience in integrated or community health settings.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, lift equipment, and assist patients throughout scheduled shifts.
