Job summary

Montefiore Einstein Advanced Care in West Nyack, NY is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform a range of clinical and clerical duties. You will monitor vital signs, assist in exams, manage patient records in EMR, and support physicians during visits across multiple locations in Westchester and Manhattan.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, 1–3 years of experience, and MA certification/externship.

Responsibilities

• Take and record patients' height, weight, health history and vital signs including blood pressure and blood drawing (venipuncture) and EKGs.
• Apply splints and casts, bandage wounds, assist in minor procedures, and perform range-of-motion tests to assess injuries.
• Assist physician with physical exams and medical procedures by positioning patient and checking vital signs during procedures.
• Perform all appropriate clerical work in connection with the preparation of billing source documents, insurance forms, diagnostic testing order forms.
• Sterilize instruments and equipment using autoclave.
• Prepare medical records and documentation/chart for physician(s).
• Enter the patient room with the physician during patient visit to capture and transcribe medical record documentation utilizing electronic medical record applications.
• Ensure medical record compliance by self-documentation attestation.
• Update patient history, physical exam, and other pertinent health information in the patient chart.
• Prepare and send all documentation for physician review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and specialty specific procedures.
• Comply with medical facility policies, including those related to HIPAA.
• Order and maintain supplies and prepare examination rooms.
• Maintain logbooks, abnormal results laboratory, and pathology specimens.
• Assist in clerical procedures such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls and recording messages and completing forms, medical records and requests for lab tests and x-rays.
• Perform routine tests such as urinalysis, blood sugar, hematocrit.
• Provide patient education for wellness.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary: The Medical Assistant performs a variety of clinical and clerical services for the practices that comprise MEAC.
