Job summary

Hope Health in Waxahachie, TX is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians in an outpatient clinic. You will help with examinations, prepare rooms, and manage routine procedures under supervision.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with injections, coordinating referrals, and maintaining exam room inventory in compliance with OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification / Registration from a nationally recognized organization or state training program, recertify annually.
• At least 6 months experience in a community health, public health, or community hospital preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish reason for visit and document chief complaint in the patient chart.
• Take patient vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, height, weight).
• Instruct patient on preparation for physician examination.
• Work with physician to coordinate quality care for patients.
• Stock and prepare rooms according to provider's specialty.
• Assist patients needing help (elderly, handicap, pediatric).
• Apply dressings and administer injections when assigned.
• Maintain supply and inventory for exam room per OSHA.
• Review patient charts for completeness and order processing (referrals, labs, x-ray).
• Assist with medication refills and back-up co-workers as needed.
• Inform scheduled patients of delays due to physician lateness or emergencies.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

General Summary

Assist providers with examination and treatment of patients in an outpatient clinical facility. Prepare treatment rooms, position instruments and equipment, as needed per chief complaint. Operate medical equipment, provide injections and/or treatments.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Establish reason for visit and document chief complaint, per the patient's description, on progress note in patient chart.
• Take patient vital signs, including but not limited to blood pressure, pulse rate, height and weight, etc.
• Instruct patient on preparation for physician's examination.
• Work collaboratively with the physician for the coordination of quality health care toward the clinic's patients.
• Stock and prepare rooms according to physician's specialty.
• Assist patients in need of help, i.e. elderly, handicap, pediatric, etc.
• Apply dressings and give injections, when assigned.
• Maintain supply and inventory for exam room, in accordance with clinic and OSHA requirements.
• Review patient charts for completeness, as well as order processing, for referrals, lab, x-ray, etc.
• Assist with medication refills.
• Provide back-up for co-workers, when needed.
• Inform scheduled patients of any delays due to physician's lateness, emergencies, schedule backup, etc.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school graduate or equivalent
