Job summary

Capital Medical Group in Washington, DC, seeks an experienced Medical Assistant to support Neurology & Rehabilitation Medicine. You will manage patient flow, document vitals, assist with examinations and procedures, and ensure accurate EMR entries in a fast-paced clinic.

The role requires at least one year of MA experience, MA certification, and BLS/CPR; graduation from an accredited MA program is preferred. Onsite hours with competitive benefits and growth opportunities within UHS.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Experience in Pain Medicine / Pain Management, PM&R, Orthopedics, Neurology or related ambulatory specialty preferred.
  • Current BLS/CPR/AED certification.
  • Certification and Registration as a Medical Assistant.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; MA program graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient flow, room patients, and prepare for examinations and procedures.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, pain scores, medications, medical history in the EMR.
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, testing, and specimen collection.
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and clinical supplies.
  • Support medication reconciliation and assist with medications or injections as authorized.
  • Provide provider-directed patient instructions and communicate concerns or abnormal findings.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA/compliance with infection control and safety policies.
  • Perform other duties within the Medical Assistant’s scope and support daily practice operations.

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Medical Assistant to support our Pain Medicine practice and provide high-quality clinical and administrative support to patients and providers.

The Medical Assistant – Neurology & Rehabilitation Medicine provides clinical and administrative support to physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and patients in a clinic setting. This position supports efficient patient flow, prepares patients for examinations and procedures, obtains and documents clinical information, and assists the care team in delivering safe, timely, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage patient flow, room patients, and prepare them for examinations and procedures.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, pain scores, medications, medical history, and other required information in the EMR.
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, testing, and specimen collection as permitted.
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and clinical supplies.
  • Support medication reconciliation and assist with medications or injections when appropriately authorized, supervised, and permitted by District of Columbia requirements.
  • Provide provider-directed patient instructions and communicate concerns or abnormal findings to the appropriate clinical staff.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA, infection prevention, safety, organizational, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the Medical Assistant’s permitted scope of practice.
  • Perform clinical and administrative duties necessary to support daily practice operations, patient care, and efficient workflow.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program required.
Certification
  • Current BLS/CPR/AED certification required.
  • Certification and Registration as a Medical Assistant required.
Experience
  • Minimum of one year of Medical Assistant experience required.
  • Experience in Pain Medicine/Pain Management, PM&R, Orthopedics, Neurology, or another ambulatory/procedural specialty preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach in an ambulatory healthcare environment.
  • Ability to assist with patient positioning and mobility as required.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or carry and frequently push or pull up to 100 pounds as required by the role.
  • Ability to work in healthcare environments that may require personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate computers, medical equipment, and other equipment required for the position.
