Position Summary
The Medical Assistant performs administrative and clinical duties under the physician's supervision. Administrative duties include scheduling appointments and maintaining medical records. Clinical duties involve taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examinations, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by the physician.
Key Responsibilities
- Interact professionally with patients.
- Assist patients in the exam room before the physician's visit.
- Take vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, and height, and enter them into the EMR.
- Obtain current medication lists and verify allergies during each visit; perform medication reconciliation.
- Collect patient history and chief complaints, documenting clearly and accurately.
- Update surgical history after procedures performed by our physicians or other providers.
- Obtain signed informed consent and administer intramuscular injections such as steroids and vitamin B12, documenting the procedure.
- Coordinate patient flow to minimize wait times and ensure timely appointments.
- Prepare exam rooms efficiently for subsequent patients.
- Respond to messages from the nursing line appropriately.
- Call in prescriptions as directed by physicians.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and self.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
