Job summary

Connecticut Orthopaedics is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join our care team in Trumbull and surrounding areas. You will support the physician team administratively, coordinate with patients from scheduling to insurance, and help ensure a smooth care process with excellent patient experience.

The position offers a competitive salary, great work-life balance, and opportunities for growth. Hours vary from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with some Saturdays, supporting our large private orthopaedic

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of EMR systems (EPIC preferred).
  • Positive attitude and courteous demeanor.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to comply with HIPAA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead administrative responsibilities of a physician team.
  • Coordinate scheduling, insurance coordination, and patient experience.
  • Coordinate with physicians, clinical MAs, surgical centers, X-ray staff, and others.
  • Document patient information in EMR, review test results, and complete pre-op documentation.

The medical assistant will work in our Trumbull and surrounding area locations. The hours vary between 8:0am and 5:00pm and some Saturdays.

What a medical assistant will have the ability to do…

  • Play a lead role in the administrative responsibilities of a physician team
  • Connect with the patient. From scheduling to insurance coordination and more, this position plays a key role in the care process and patient experience
  • Practice communication and planning skills by coordinating with physicians, clinical MAs, surgical centers, X-ray staff, etc.
  • Utilize and grow EMR skills by documenting patient information, reviewing and distributing test results and executing necessary pre-op documentation

Skills and abilities that a medical assistant should possess…

  • A knowledge of EMR systems

  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to comply with all HIPAA requirements

Education and experience needed…

  • A high school diploma
  • Experience working with an EMR (EPIC Preferred)
  • Two (2) or more years of medical assistant experience

In addition to our orthopaedic service line, we have three MRI suites, (5) acute care orthopaedic walk-in centers and a surgery center in Branford.
