Job summary

Water's Edge Dermatology, Florida's largest full-service dermatology practice, is hiring a Medical Assistant to support providers during patient visits, including surgical procedures. The role requires compassionate, organized multitasking with strong communication skills and the ability to travel between locations.

The MA will greet patients, prepare them for exams, assist with procedures, maintain EMR records accurately, and handle prescriptions and administrative tasks.

Qualifications

• Preferred Medical Assistant Certification (MA), CST license, or LPN.
• Hands-on clinical experience; dermatology or surgical experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel between locations.
• Able to maintain patient records accurately in EMR.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers during patient visits, including consultative and surgical procedures.
• Greet and prepare patients for examinations and treatments.
• Provide side-by-side assistance with surgical procedures.
• Sterilize instruments and maintain exam room cleanliness and organization.
• Review medical history and maintain patient records and documentation in EMR.
• Obtain appropriate consents and call in prescriptions.
• Handle administrative duties as needed.

Who are we looking for a Medical Assistant?

The ideal Medical Assistantcandidate is positive, energetic, intelligent, highly dependable, organized, and can multi-task. The MA is responsible for assisting the Provider with patient visits, including consultative and surgical procedures.

Medical Assistant Primary Duties:

• Assisting providers in providing quality care to patients.
• Greeting and preparing patients for examinations and treatments.
• Providing side‑by‑side assistance with surgical procedures.
• Assist with sterilizing instruments and ensuring cleanliness and organization of exam rooms.
• Reviewing medical history, maintaining patient records and documentation accurately and confidentially and maintaining notes in EMR system.
• Obtaining appropriate consents when necessary.
• Calling in prescriptions, performing patient call backs and handling administrative duties when necessary.

Medical Assistant Skills and Qualities:

• Able to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others, patients, and co‑workers
• Able to prioritize tasks, understand the provider’s instructions, and know when to seek information or advice
• Proficient communication skills (written and verbal)
• Able to travel between locations

Experience and Education:

• Preferred Medical Assistant (MA) Certification, Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) License, or LPN
• Hands‑on experience in a clinical setting, Will train the right candidate
• Dermatology or surgical experience is preferred, not required
