Job summary

Coastal Health is seeking a compassionate Medical Assistant to support our Primary Care team. You will room patients, obtain vital signs, document medical histories, and prepare patients for examinations.

You will assist with routine procedures, perform point-of-care testing, and manage specimen handling while maintaining EMR accuracy and timely charting. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential in our fast-paced clinic.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) preferred.
  • Previous medical office or primary care experience preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of EMR systems and basic clinical procedures.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced primary care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, and chief complaints.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers with routine in-office procedures.
  • Perform and document point-of-care testing, including laboratory tests as assigned.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and ensure proper processing.
  • Administer medications and immunizations within scope of practice and office protocols.
  • Perform EKGs and other clinical procedures as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Assist with prescription requests, referrals, prior authorizations, and other patient care coordination.
  • Communicate with patients regarding appointments, follow-up care, test results, and provider instructions.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked examination rooms and clinical areas.
  • Follow infection-control, safety, HIPAA, and Coastal Health policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with providers, nurses, front-office staff, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Provide friendly, respectful, and professional service to patients of all ages.
