Job summary

American Family Care Temple is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider in an outpatient clinic setting.

The role includes obtaining patient vitals, assisting with exams, drawing blood, preparing labs, and supporting immunizations and referrals as needed in a fast-paced primary care environment.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certification required.
• Experience in outpatient clinic a plus.
• Ability to obtain vitals and prepare patients for exams.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and timely.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per procedure.
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference or in-house processing.
• Perform laboratory tests and maintain equipment per instructions.
• Respond to lab messages and call-back requests.
• Ensure immunizations are documented and administered per procedure.
• Coordinate physician referrals and pre-certifications as needed.
• Prepare exam rooms and sterilize instruments and supplies.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam


• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients


• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner


• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure


• Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing


• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions


• Respond to all lab messages and call back requests


• Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations


• Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure


• Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis


• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures


• Maintain complete and accurate documentation


• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
