Description

Position Summary: Medical Assistants perform administrative and clinical under the direction of licensed healthcare provider.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Review EHR and prepare patients records for office visits
  • Maintain patient flow
  • Maintain exam rooms (cleanliness and supplies)
  • Go over current medications with patient at each office visit and reconcile medication list EMR
  • Scan in all incoming records into patients EMR system
  • Obtain vitals and other medical information from patient for office visit and enter information into EMR
  • Schedule patients for follow up in office laboratory studies
  • Set up and assist providers with medical examinations/bone marrow biopsy procedure
  • Return patient phone calls
  • Injections upon request
  • Obtain Advanced Care Directive from patient and enter information in EMR system
  • Obtain Plan of Care for pain from patient and enter information in EMR system
  • Obtain via venipuncture and process CBC'S, CMP, PT/INRS and glucose monitoring as ordered by physician and enter information in EMR system
  • Perform and/or assist with EKG'S
  • Triage patients in person and on the telephone
  • Answer telephone calls and messages within the same day
  • Place reminder calls to all patients being seen by providers the next day (make sure this gets done prior to 4pm each day)
  • Other tasks as requested by management
Requirements
Qualification/Requirement:
  • Ability to apply a common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written and/or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving occasional, last-minute changes in generally standardized situations.
Education/Training/Experience:
  • Medical Assistant Certification
