Job summary

Coastal Community Health Services is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our clinical team in Southeast Georgia. You will support providers and staff, prepare patients, document information, and help ensure a positive, patient-centered visit for every patient.

The role includes phlebotomy, injections, venipuncture, EKGs, lab tests, specimen handling, charting in the EHR, and assisting with examinations and imaging.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completed Medical Assistant training or education program required.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Current BLS certification or ability to obtain before start date.
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy, injections, venipuncture, and other standard clinical procedures.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and medical equipment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for visits and accurately document relevant patient information.
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and patient care.
  • Administer medications, immunizations, injections, and treatments as ordered.
  • Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and routine laboratory and diagnostic testing.
  • Collect, prepare, label, and package specimens for laboratory processing.
  • Assist with clinical procedures such as dressing changes and preparing patients for X-rays.
  • Provide basic patient education and instructions for testing.
  • Prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain clinical supplies.
  • Maintain clinical logs, quality-control procedures, and safety checks.
  • Communicate patient concerns to the appropriate provider.
  • Work with the healthcare team to support efficient clinic operations.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare exam rooms, sterilize medical instruments, and maintain necessary clinical supplies.
  • Maintain required clinical logs, quality-control procedures, and safety checks.
  • Communicate patient concerns, needs, and changes in condition to the appropriate provider.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to support efficient clinic operations and a positive patient experience.
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training or education program
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy, injections, venipuncture, and other standard clinical procedures.
  • Knowledge of patient evaluation, triage procedures, infection control, and patient safety practices.
  • Comfort working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and medical and laboratory equipment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a patient care team.
Clinic Location and Hours:

Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
