Job summary

Nasson Health Care, a division of York County Community Action Corp, invites applications for a Medical Assistant in Springvale, ME. This full-time role supports a Federally Qualified Health Center team delivering integrated medical, dental and behavioral health care.

You will prepare for visits, assist with examinations, perform in-office diagnostics and blood draws, and manage specimens and medications. Experience in primary care and EMR proficiency are preferred; a pathway from an Associate

Qualifications

• Associate degree in medical assisting or PN diploma.
• Experience in a primary care setting preferred.
• Strong critical thinking during patient assessment and care.
• Proficient with electronic medical records and practice management systems.
• Team player capable of integrating medical, behavioral health and dental care.
• Proof of immunity to MMR, Hep B, influenza, and COVID vaccination.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for patient visits with the practice team to ensure planned services.
• Support care planning and patient-centered outcomes with providers and families.
• Perform new patient orientation and prep for provider visits.
• Assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Conduct in-office diagnostics and routine blood draws.
• Process lab specimens and administer medications and vaccines.

Medical Assistant

Career Ladder Progression Program Level 1 – Level 4

The Medical Assistant works collaboratively with a team of health professionals to provide comprehensive primary care to all patients while utilizing the Patient-Centered Medical Home model of care delivery.

The Medical Assistant:

• Collaborates with other members of the practice team to prepare for patients’ office visits and assure that all indicated services are planned and delivered.
• Supports the attainment of optimal, patient-centered outcomes defined by a care planning process between providers, patients, and patients’ support members.
• Carries out new patient orientation session and prepares patients for provider visits.
• Assists with examinations, procedures and treatments.
• Performs in-office diagnostics, treatments according to practice guidelines and a variety of routine blood drawing procedures.
• Processes lab specimens and prepares and administers medications and immunizations.

Qualifications:

• Applicants must have Associate Degree in Medical Assisting or diploma from an Approved Practical Nursing Program.
• Experience in a primary care medical practice preferred.
• Capable of applying critical thinking skills in performing patient assessment and care.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using the electronic medical record and practice management systems.
• Ability to work as part of a team that supports integration of medical, behavioral health and dental care.
• Must show proof of immunity or have been immunized for MMR, Hep B (offered with employment), Influenza (required annually) and the COVID primary series.
