Job summary

Pueblo Community Health Center seeks a Medical Assistant to join the nursing services team in Pueblo, CO. You will assist providers, perform routine clinical tasks, and help maintain patient records in an organized, compassionate environment.

Qualifications include MA program completion and CPR/BLS; certification through NHA/AMT/AAMA is preferred. Limited local travel may be required; bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program required.
  • Current certification or registration through NHA, AMT, AAMA or other recognized credentialing organization is preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience will be considered.
  • Current BLS with CPR certification for Healthcare Providers required.
  • One year of medical assisting desired.
  • Limited local travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist a Medical Provider in direct patient care as needed, including treatments and procedures.
  • Follow clinical workflows and document in electronic patient charts.
  • Maintain stock and supplies in exam rooms per policy.
  • Adhere to infection control policies and safety guidelines.
  • May perform phlebotomy at satellite clinics.

Salary Range: $19.10 - $22.47 hourly.

Job Summary

A team member of nursing services who participates in the delivery of health care to the patients of Pueblo Community Health Center.

Reporting

Reports to: Clinical Nursing Manager

Supervision exercised: None.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program required.
  • Current certification or registration through NHA, AMT, AAMA or other recognized credentialing organization is preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of appropriate education, certification, and experience will be considered.
  • Current B.L.S. with skills demonstration CPR certification for Healthcare Providers required.
  • One year of medical assisting desired.
  • Limited local travel may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understand information and instructions, exchange verbal information, and present information verbally.
  • Read and understand written materials; compose information in a written form.
  • Memorize information.
  • Reason mathematically, have analytical skills, and solve problems.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to speak Spanish desired.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Records or other data management systems preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the function and activities of this department embrace the philosophy, mission, values, and Communicate with Heart service model supported by the Board of Directors of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc.
  • Adhere to the guidelines and procedures of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc.
  • Follow scheduling procedures for providers.
  • Follow clinical workflows and documentation for MAs and providers within electronic patient charts.
  • Assist a Medical Provider in providing direct patient care as needed, including treatments, procedures, and emergencies.
  • Access, use, and update clinical data from various outside agencies.
  • Follow clinical lab procedures including Point of Care Testing.
  • Maintain compliance with vaccine storage, handling, and administration policy and procedure.
  • Maintain compliance with all Nursing and Infection Control Policies and Procedures at all clinical sites.
  • Utilize case management programs (EIS, Breast Health, Colorectal Cancer screening, Pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric immunizations) and standing orders associated with them.
  • Maintain stock and supplies in exam rooms per policy and procedure.
  • Manage daily workflows to ensure timely completion of daily tasks.
  • Adhere to nursing policies and procedures.
  • Provide nursing/medical assistant health care services appropriate to the age‑specific needs of all patients in accordance with the principles of growth and development for infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric life cycles.
  • Ensure all clinical information is entered into and maintained within the patient record.
  • May perform phlebotomy at satellite clinics.
  • Adhere to the Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist in the training of student externs and/or new Medical Assistant staff.
  • Maintain current licensure and CPR certification.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Perform duties specific to assignment at a satellite clinic per policy and procedure.
  • Follow safety and security practices implemented at PCHC.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Assist with accurate and timely completion of time and attendance activities.
  • Follow organization and departmental call off procedure.
