Job summary

Legacy Health in Portland, OR seeks a compassionate Medical Assistant to support patient care across primary care and specialty clinics. You will prepare patients, assist with procedures, and perform vaccines, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing under physician supervision.

You will manage phone/EHR communications, handle refills and scheduling, and play a vital role in coordinating care. Oregon EMT or MA programs and MA certification within a year are discussed in the requirements.

Qualifications

  • One year experience as a clinic back office medical assistant preferred.
  • Education: completion of a MA program or equivalent; or military medical services training; or Oregon EMT program.
  • MA certification within one year from a certifying body; WA certs if working in Washington.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient care under physicians' direction.
  • Prepare patients for office visits and procedures.
  • Administer vaccines/medications, perform phlebotomy, and conduct point-of-care testing.
  • Support indirect patient care via phone/EHR, address questions, process refills, and schedule follow-ups.
  • Utilize electronic health records for efficient care.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient care under the direction of physicians.
  • Prepare patients for office visits and procedures.
  • Preforms a variety of patient care activities , such as vaccine /medication administration , phlebotomy, and point of care testing.
  • Provides indirect patient care via phone or EHR by addressing patient questions , processing medication refills and scheduling follow-up appointments.
  • Utilize electronic health record for efficient care.
Qualifications
  • One year experience as a clinic back office medical assistant preferred.
  • Education :
    • Completion of a medical assistant program or equivalent experience; or
    • Completion of a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces; or
    • Completion of Basic or Advanced Oregon Emergency Medical Technician program (Oregon only)
Licensure
  • MA certification required within one year, from either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or the National Healthcare Association (NHA).
    • MA certification requirement may be met instead by current Oregon Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license and national EMT registration (NREMT) . Oregon only .
  • Washington State certification as a MA or Interim M A required for all who work or float in Washington.
  • Current BLS for Providers from the American Heart Association.
Pay Range
USD $23.93 - USD $33.50 /Hr.
