Banner Health's Gastroenterology team in Scottsdale is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians and patients after check-in, helping with exams, vitals, and routine procedures.

The role is full-time day shift with uncertainded MAs able to start with Education proof and 12 months to become nationally certified; strong teamwork across back office and providers is essential for delivering excellent patient care.

Qualifications

Located in one of the Valley's growing communities, Banner Health Center plus represents an important expansion of Banner Health's presence and services in North Scottsdale. As a Medical Assistant in Gastroenterology , you will be working directly with our patients and families after check-in. You will get a chance to help shape many lives by providing care to our patients. A career with Banner is great if you are just starting out or have many years' experience.

MAs are responsible for but not limited to;

  • rooming patients
  • monitoring schedule
  • Injections
  • calling patients with results or other needs
  • intake of vitals
  • heavy admin duties as assigned
  • work with provider in procedures and procedure set ups
  • Work as a team with all back office members
  • MA will also need to complete referrals, prior authorizations, and assist in obtaining patient medical records
Schedule

Full Time, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm

Training

Prior to our opening in early 2027, you may work at another clinic before transitioning to 18250 Hayden Rd, Scottsdale AZ 85255 upon opening.

Uncertified MAs

Uncertified Medical Assistants will be considered, with proof of formal Medical Assistant education, and will have 12 months to become nationally certified once employment begins.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, as well as, implementing and evaluating direct patient care. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and skills to provide an excellent patient experience.

CORE FUNCTIONS
  1. Prepares patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other necessary measurements and recording chief complaint; documents pain scores as appropriate. Reports condition of patient which may be indicative of change in the patient's condition to the clinician.
  2. Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures which could include taking patients' blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, taking temperature, as well as performing phlebotomies, ear irrigation and EKG's. Acts as chaperon as needed. Uses universal blood and body fluid precautions at all times and personal protective equipment as needed. Responsible for prioritization of patient flow through clinical process.
  3. Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling of patients for clinic, hospital and other ancillary medical treatments and tests. Responsible for communicating test results to patient. Acts as a resource to clinician in order to provide optimal patient care. May administer medications in accordance with established policies and procedures
