Long Island Select Healthcare Inc. (LISH) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with eight locations across Suffolk County, New York. We provide comprehensive primary and specialty medical care, including dental, behavioral health, audiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech‑language pathology to over 7,000 patients. Our mission is to deliver patient‑centered, culturally competent care through services such as chronic care management, telemedicine, and integrated behavioral health.

About the Role

The Medical Assistant plays a vital part in patient care, performing clinical tasks and administrative duties that enhance patient experience and support our health care team.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program or equivalent experience.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
  • Certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, drawing blood, and preparing specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures, ensuring that all necessary instruments and supplies are readily available.
  • Manage patient scheduling, answer phone calls, and provide information to patients regarding their appointments and medical inquiries.
  • Maintain a clean and sterile environment by following proper sterilization protocols and ensuring that medical instruments are properly cared for.
  • Document patient information accurately in electronic health records and assist in the management of patient files.
  • Answer incoming calls and return patient messages promptly and professionally.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, procedures, and follow‑up visits.
