Medical Assistant (Full Time) – Bronx, NY

Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non‑Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. We provide high‑quality, comprehensive primary, preventative and behavioral health services to all patients, especially the underserved and vulnerable. The Medical Assistant in this position supports the clinical team at our Hub location in the Bronx, NY, helping patients and staff in accordance with nursing and medical staff direction.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Of a Medical Assistant

• Completes the rooming process and takes vital signs, vision, and/or hearing tests; records patient data in eCW and documents reason for visit.
• Performs in‑house labs, collects specimens for outside labs (e.g., Pap, cultures, etc.), and performs quality control per organizational protocols.
• Keeps the clinical area stocked and in good order, ensuring all dated material is current and disposing of outdated supplies.
• Cleans and sterilizes all equipment, logging each time the service is performed.
• Performs basic clerical work in the service area; answers phones appropriately and communicates problems/concerns to the nurse; handles telephone inquiries.
• Ensures all appropriate logs are maintained.

Minimum education requirement: High School diploma or GED with Medical Assistant Training Certificate.

Preferred education requirement: Associate's degree with Medical Assistant Training Certificate.

Minimum related work experience: 0–1 year.

Preferred specialized skills & knowledge: Bilingual Spanish.
