Tennessee Oncology is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct, safe patient care throughout treatment under supervision. You will assist with rooming, vitals, and EMR documentation, supporting the oncology team in a fast-paced clinic.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of Medical Assistant Training Program or 6-months recent Medical Assistant experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred (CMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA)

Responsibilities

  • Measure patient height/weight and vital signs.
  • Screen for and document pain, distress, and depression scores.
  • Assist with rooming and escort to exam room.
  • Review medications and allergies in EMR for accuracy.
  • Assist with injections, port access, and procedures as needed.
  • Support phone triage and scheduling; assist with forms/referrals.

Screens for and documents pain, distress, clinical depression scores required for each patient visitCompletes “rooming” process including escorting patient to exam roomReviews/verifies medication lists and preferred pharmacy information with patient for accuracy and enters/ updates information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) at each encounterReviews/verifies patient allergies and updates in EMR at each encounterReviews health histories and other assigned historical information with the patient since the last visit and updates in the EMR at each encounter.Completes all required screening questionnaires and enters data in the EMRPrepares patients for examination and or treatment assuring rooms/chairs are turned over in a manner that promotes efficient provider workflow and patient through putReviews need for prescriptions/refills at each encounter. Manages prescription refill extension requests per Tennessee Oncology (TO) policy, procedure, standards.
