SouthStar in Louisiana is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in a busy clinical setting. You will prepare patients for examinations, record vital signs and history, and provide treatment as directed by providers.

The role involves room preparation, supplies management, and assisting with injections and wound care. Additional duties include collecting blood and other specimens, performing in-house testing, documenting care in EMR, scheduling tests, and guiding patients on

Qualifikationen

• High school graduate or equivalent is required.
• Current Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of several programs is preferred; BLS certification is required.

• Prepare patients for examination, record vital signs and history, and provide treatment as applicable.
• Prepare exam/treatment rooms; set up, sterilize, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for procedures.
• Administer injections, change dressings, and assist with wound care under provider orders.
• Collect blood and other specimens, perform in-house testing, log results, and conduct lab call-backs.
• Document basic patient care and procedures in EMR.
• Schedule tests and follow-up appointments as needed.
• Instruct patients and families on treatment and medication instructions.
• Collaborate with team to ensure seamless patient care; include phlebotomy tasks.
• Handle opening/closing clinic duties and patient callbacks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for examination, records vital signs and history, and provides treatment as applicable
• Prepares exam/treatment rooms; select, setup, sterilize, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for procedures
• Prepare and administer injections, change dressings, and facilitate wound management under providers orders
• Collect blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens through routine in-house testing procedures, and analyze and prepare for testing, log results, and perform lab call-backs
• Document basic patient care and procedures, utilizing appropriate forms and electronic medical records
• Schedule patients for tests, initial, and follow-up appointments if applicable in care setting
• Instructs patients and family regarding treatment and medication instructions
• Collaborate, take direction, and initiate actions that will allow the assumption of cross-functional team actions to ensure seamless patient care
• Phlebotomy

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent is required.
• Certificate/License: Current Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following programs is preferred (RMA, AAMA, NCCT, CMAC, AMCA). Current BLS certification is required.
• Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience is preferred

Compensation:

Pay is based on experience, skills and falls within an established range.
