Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) in Mississippi seeks a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider in an outpatient clinic setting. This position works directly with a franchised business location where duties and benefits may vary by franchise.

Compensation is $18.00–$22.00 per hour, and AFC centers offer a patient-centric work environment with opportunities to contribute to patient care, lab processing, and documentation across clinics.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Six months to one-year related experience and/or training.
  • AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit; prepare patient for exam.
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and timely.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per procedure.
  • Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing.
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance.
  • Respond to lab messages and callback requests; perform drug screening procedures per rules.
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered per procedure.
  • Conduct physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed.
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
