Job summary

American Family Care Midlothian is hiring for an Medical Assistant to provide general medical care in an outpatient clinic under supervision. The role involves patient intake, vitals, and preparing for exams at a franchised location.

You will explain procedures, assist with tests, manage lab duties, document thoroughly, and support referrals as needed. A flexible, team-oriented environment with opportunities to grow is offered.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training.
• AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit; prep for physical exam.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per approved procedure.
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing.
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance per written instructions.
• Respond to lab messages and callback requests.
• Conduct drug screening procedures per established rules and regulations.
• Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered per procedure.
• Coordinate physician referrals and pre-certifications as needed.
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
