Job summary

American Family Care Midlothian is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care in an outpatient clinic setting under a licensed provider. The position offers work at a franchised location with variations in duties and benefits by franchise.

The role involves patient vitals, medical history, procedures explanation, lab prep, immunizations, and documentation, with AMT/AAMA credentials preferred and a strong emphasis on accuracy and safety.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent required, or 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training.
  • AMT registration and AAMA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam.
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure.
  • Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing.
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance per instructions.
  • Respond to lab messages and callback requests.
  • Perform drug screening procedures per rules and regulations.
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered as approved.
  • Conduct physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed.
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants preferred

Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
