Job summary

American Family Care Shelton is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care under a licensed provider in an outpatient clinic setting. The role works directly with a franchised AFC location, supporting vitals, history, exams, patient instructions, labs, and documentation.

Associates degree or related experience is required; AMT registered and AAMA credentials are preferred. Benefits include health insurance, PTO, 401(k), and flexible scheduling within AFC’s franchise network.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or related experience.
  • AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam.
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and timely.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per procedures.
  • Draw blood and prepare labs for reference or in-house processing.
  • Perform laboratory tests and equipment maintenance as instructed.
  • Document thoroughly and maintain patient records.
  • Assist with physician referrals and pre-certifications as needed.

Education

Associate degree / AA or equivalent
AMT registered / AAMA preferred

Job Summary

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. This position works directly with a franchised business location. The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely mannerAdminister prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
  • Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
  • Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
