What You’ll Do

  • Welcome patients, prepare them for their visits, obtain and document vital signs, and update relevant medical information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

  • Support nephrologists during patient consultations and help ensure an efficient flow throughout the clinic.

  • Review upcoming appointments to ensure necessary laboratory results, imaging studies, ultrasounds, hospital records, and other requested clinical information are available for the provider before the patient is evaluated.

  • Coordinate laboratory orders, diagnostic testing, ultrasounds, imaging, and follow-up appointments as directed by the physician.

  • Process medication refill requests and medication prior authorizations according to provider protocols.

  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits and assist with referrals and authorization requirements.

  • Schedule patient appointments, follow-up visits, laboratory testing, imaging, and other services ordered by the physician.

  • Maintain accurate and complete patient information and documentation within the EMR.

  • Respond to patient calls and messages, communicate physician instructions when appropriate, and route clinical concerns to the provider.

  • Assist with front desk and checkout responsibilities as needed, including scheduling follow-up care and ensuring patients understand their next steps before leaving the office.

  • Help identify outstanding orders, results, referrals, or follow-up needs and communicate them to the appropriate team member or provider.

  • Maintain an organized clinical environment and follow HIPAA, infection control, safety, and patient privacy requirements.

  • Collaborate with physicians and team members to provide a smooth, compassionate, and coordinated patient experience.
