Job summary

US Foot & Ankle Specialists in McLean, VA seeks a Medical Assistant to join a growing podiatry team. You will support physicians with hands-on patient care in a fast-paced outpatient setting, including vitals, charting, and minor procedures.

Hands-on and clinical training are provided; CMA or RMA certification is preferred and travel between local offices may be required. The role emphasizes patient education, HIPAA compliance, and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; MA program or 1+ year clinical experience preferred.
  • CMA or RMA certification preferred.
  • Experience with medical terminology and MS 365/Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome, room, and prepare patients for exams and in-office procedures.
  • Take vitals, update medical histories, record medications/allergies, and document in the EMR.
  • Assist physicians with minor procedures and post-operative care; digitize X-rays.
  • Apply dressings, DME, and provide patient instructions and education.
  • Manage lab specimens, insurance verifications, pre-authorizations, and prescriptions as directed.
  • Make post-operative calls, answer questions, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Open, prep, clean, and close exam rooms; sterilize instruments; manage inventory.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure HIPAA compliance.

Job description

US Foot & Ankle Specialists is looking for a Medical Assistant to join our growing podiatry practice. If you enjoy working directly with patients, supporting physicians, and being part of a team, we'd love to meet you!

You'll work alongside our podiatrists providing hands-on patient care in a professional, fast-paced outpatient setting. Hands-on training and ongoing clinical training are provided, making this a great opportunity for an experienced Medical Assistant or someone looking to grow their clinical skills.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
  • Welcome, room, and prepare patients for exams and in-office procedures
  • Take vitals, update medical histories, record medications/allergies, and document in the EMR
  • Assist physicians with minor procedures, post-op care, digital X-rays, and basic podiatric services
  • Apply dressings, DME, and provide patient instructions and education
  • Manage lab specimens, complete insurance verifications and pre-authorizations, and process prescriptions as directed
  • Make post-operative phone calls, answer patient questions, and provide excellent customer service
  • Open, prep, clean, and close exam rooms; sterilize instruments; manage inventory and supplies
  • Maintain accurate documentation, support back-office operations, and ensure HIPAA compliance
Required Skills and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR 1+ year of clinical experience
  • CMA or RMA certification preferred
  • Experience with medical terminology
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills
